Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda has directed the immediate closure of all private healthcare institutions operating in the state due to concerns over their registration status and quality of service.
This was announced by Umar Mammada, Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, during a press briefing at the Ministry of Information and Culture in Katsina.
According to Mammada, many private health training institutions in Katsina have failed to meet necessary legal requirements, posing significant risks to the public.
The state government has experienced a significant increase in private health training institutions, many of which are unregistered and substandard. “While we acknowledge the role that private healthcare plays in our health ecosystem, it is imperative to ensure the highest quality and safety for all citizens,” Mammada stated.
He added that the closure is aimed at sanitizing the system and ensuring compliance with health standards.
Mammada explained that the Executive Governor has directed the immediate closure and revocation of the registration and licenses of all private health training institutions in Katsina State.
This decision will remain in effect until a thorough re-evaluation and fresh registration process is conducted.
To facilitate the re-registration process, proprietors are requested to present themselves at the State Ministry of Health with all necessary documentation from Thursday, 24th to Friday, 25th, 2024, for verification and a fresh registration meeting with a special committee chaired by the Special Adviser to His Excellency on Health Institutions.
Mammada emphasized the importance of compliance, stating that the state government aims to implement a more standardized and rigorous regulatory framework for both existing and prospective private health training institutions.
Mammada urged citizens to view the closure as a necessary measure to ensure quality healthcare services.
