The Hausa entertainment industry mourns the loss of one of its iconic figures, Usman Baba Fategi, widely known as Samanja.
The acclaimed Hausa actor breathed his last in the early hours of Sunday, November 12, 2023, at the Garden City Hospital in Kaduna.
Samanja’s departure follows a prolonged battle with illness, as reported by reliable sources close to the actor.
While his family has yet to issue an official statement regarding his demise, it has been revealed that his funeral is scheduled for later today at the Jaafaru Estate Juma’at Mosque, Kabala Costain, Kaduna.
At 81, Samanja leaves behind a legacy that extends beyond the silver screen. A retired Nigerian soldier, he contributed significantly to the broadcasting realm, having worked with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria at the Kaduna broadcasting station.
Survived by two wives and 14 children, Samanja’s impact on the entertainment and media landscape is indelible.
