Former Governor of Kano State and leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has hinted at the possibility of the government led by Abba Yusuf revisiting the law that established the Kano emirates.

Following Governor Yusuf’s victory at the Supreme Court, speculations arose regarding a potential reversal of the law creating the five emirates and the subsequent removal of emirs allegedly supportive of the APC governorship candidate, Nasiru Gawuna.

In an interview with radio stations in Kano, NNPP leader Kwankwaso, though not officially contacted on the matter, expressed his belief that Governor Yusuf’s administration would review the dethronement of Sanusi and the fragmentation of the emirate.

“Honestly, it is one of the things that nobody intimated me about so far. But I am sure the government would review the whole matter and do the needful. The present government would see the possibility or otherwise of allowing the five emirates, I don’t know. What I know is that the government will definitely revisit the issue,” remarked the Senator.

Kwankwaso further asserted that his political rival, Mr. Ganduje, had divided the emirates for personal political gain rather than serving the interests of the masses. As the political landscape evolves in Kano, the fate of the emirates remains uncertain, awaiting the outcome of the government’s anticipated review.
