Seven residents who were kidnapped from Sagwari Estate in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have been set free.

The kidnapping incident, previously reported by TCR, occurred at the estate opposite Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS) Dutse, prompting the abduction of 10 residents.

Following the abduction, the captors demanded a ransom and set a deadline. Unfortunately, due to the family’s failure to meet their demands, three of the hostages, including a university student and a hotel staff member, were tragically killed.

Subsequently, the remaining hostages, including a female hotel receptionist, a mother with her three children, and two young children, were released to their respective families.

The exact location of the families was not disclosed.

The development follows the earlier release of the four remaining siblings of the late Nabeeha Al-Kadriyah, one of the victims who lost her life in captivity.

The bandits had initially abducted the sisters and their father in early January, later raising the ransom from N60 million to N100 million and threatening harm

As of the latest update, the girls have regained freedom and returned to their Abuja residence.
