Addressing a gathering of governors’ wives at the presidential villa in Abuja on Monday, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu reassured Nigerians that the current challenging times will soon come to an end.

Expressing optimism for 2024, she highlighted the upcoming year as a period filled with peace, progress, prosperity, and greater achievements for all Nigerians.

Mrs. Tinubu emphasized the need for collective efforts during challenging times and assured that the prevailing hardships are temporary and will eventually fade away.

In line with her Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), she unveiled the Women Agricultural Support Programme (WASP), aiming to empower 20 farmers each from five states in the South East Zone with N500,000 each.

A total draft of N10 million will be provided to coordinators in the respective RHI states.

Collaborating with the National Agricultural Land Development Authority, the RHI will also support an additional 80 female farmers from each state with training, capacity building, and agricultural inputs, ensuring the purchase of all produce from the farms after harvest.

Mrs. Tinubu announced plans to launch the “Young Farmers Club” in public schools nationwide, encouraging farming among the younger population.

She noted that schools with exemplary farms will be recognized, and prizes, including school renovations, equipping of science laboratories, provision of ICT equipment, and upgrading of school libraries, will be awarded.
