Troops from the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke carried out a successful operation in Taraba State, resulting in the rescue of three kidnap victims and the recovery of eight bodies.
The operation, led by Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, was in response to an attack on an 18-seater bus along Maraban-Baisa in Donga Local Government Area, where 15 passengers, including a baby, went missing.
The Nigerian Army disclosed this in a statement posted on its official handle on Thursday, highlighting the decisive actions taken by the military forces.
The statement revealed that diligent patrolling and search efforts led to the clearing of roadblocks and thorough searches in surrounding villages, ultimately resulting in the recovery of eight bodies, including that of the missing baby.
Furthermore, upon receiving intelligence on armed militias surrounding Sanso village, the troops swiftly mobilised to the location.
The militias, arriving from Anu village via the River Donga, had carried out nefarious attacks, stealing valuable items and kidnapping several villagers.
In response, the troops engaged in a pursuit operation, successfully rescuing three female kidnap victims and recovering four motorcycles, along with significant quantities of grain.
Chairman of Donga Local Government Area, Ezra Voka, commended the commander for the swift response and expressed continuous support for the military in providing information and intelligence.
In a similar vein, troops from Joint Task Force Operation Hadarin Daji foiled an attempt to abduct 10 people in Tsafe town, Zamfara State.
Additionally, in January, troops of the Nigerian Army conducted a search-and-rescue operation in Katsina State, rescuing 32 kidnap victims and neutralising two suspected terrorists.
