Senator Abdul Ningi, representing Bauchi North Senatorial District, returned to plenary sessions on Tuesday, marking the end of his three-month suspension.

The Senate pardoned and recalled Ningi, effective immediately, following a motion moved by Deputy Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro, last week.

Moro expressed regret on Ningi’s behalf and took responsibility for his actions.

Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, announced Ningi’s unconditional recall after pleas from some lawmakers.

Ningi’s suspension began on March 12, 2024, following a controversial interview where he alleged discrepancies in the 2024 budget, claiming the National Assembly approved N25tn while the Presidency implemented N28.7tn.

With his recall, Ningi has resumed his duties as a senator, bringing an end to the three-month suspension.

“I am grateful to my colleagues and the Senate leadership for accepting my apology and recalling me,” Ningi said, expressing his appreciation.

The development marks a new chapter for Ningi, who had been absent from the Senate since March. His return is seen as a sign of reconciliation and a fresh start.
