The Nigeria Police Force, in collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), is conducting a comprehensive training program for Police Image Managers and officers of the Complaints Response Unit (CRU) on effective complaint management.

The training, which is taking place in Lagos State, aims to enhance the capacity of police personnel to handle complaints effectively, ensure timely responses, and improve public trust in the Police.

According to the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the training is in line with the Inspector-General of Police’s mandate to prioritize the concerns of the public and act swiftly and judiciously in addressing their complaints.

“The Inspector-General of Police has zero tolerance for corruption and unprofessional conduct among police officers,” Adejobi stated.

The UNODC National Programme Officer on Anti-Corruption, Chukwuma Uma Ume, commended the Police for their commitment to improving complaint management and reiterated the importance of such training programs in fostering a culture of accountability and responsiveness within the Police.

The training covers key areas such as communication strategies, complaint handling procedures, and the importance of transparency and accountability in policing.

This program is part of the Police’s efforts to enhance mutual relations between the public and the Police, and to ensure that officers are equipped to handle complaints effectively and efficiently.
