The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, also known as So-Safe Corps, has apprehended a 46-year-old man, Ibrahim Ogunrinde, for attempted murder.

According to a statement released by the Corps on Friday, Ogunrinde was arrested on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at approximately 2:40 pm at Ijaye Garage, Abeokuta.

The suspect, a butcher and farmer, allegedly posed as a passenger and asked the victim, Kosu Daniel (also known as “Jeje”), to transport him to Olubo Town on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at noon.

He then stabbed Daniel in the neck and arm, leaving him in a pool of blood, and escaped with the victim’s motorbike.

Ogunrinde confessed that his motive was to eliminate Daniel, whom he believed had an affair with his wife two months prior. He thought he had succeeded in killing Daniel, but the victim was rushed to the hospital and is currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta.

The suspect and the recovered motorcycle have been transferred to Magbon, and the investigation is ongoing.

“We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety of all citizens in Ogun State,” said Moruf Yusuf, Director of Information and Public Relations for the So-Safe Corps.
